Our Fall 2026 Session has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. If you’d like to be notified when a new session opens, click here to be redirected to our contact form. We continue to be able to provide 1:1 support to clients and if your preference is for outdoor-based sessions, we can accommodate. Thank you for your understanding!
Gather & Ground is a therapeutic support group created specifically for late-diagnosed women with ADHD. Led by two occupational therapists who received their own late-in-life diagnoses, each session unfolds in the outdoors, using nature as both backdrop and guide, as we explore what it means to understand your brain, your history, and yourself through a new and kinder lens.
Over six weeks, we move through the terrain of the ADHD experience together: the relief and grief of late diagnosis, the science of how your brain finds motivation, the emotional intensity that has followed you your whole life, and the parts of yourself you learned to hide. We make space for play, for honesty, for the inner child who never got an explanation and for the future self who finally has one.
Each week will involve:
- Nature-based grounding exercises
- A reflective question to ponder on your walk
- Time for journaling
- Facilitated group reflections
- A practical skill to take into your week
FAQ About Occupational Therapy
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to participate?
No! Many women suspect they have ADHD as they’ve come to learn more about it’s presentation in women and a formal diagnosis is not required to participate in the group.
Am I able to claim these sessions through my insurance?
Occupational Therapy is a regulated mental-health profession in Alberta and many private insurance plans offer coverage for it under Allied Health or one’s flexible health spending account. We cannot guarantee coverage for these sessions and it is best to speak directly with your insurer.
What is the size of the group?
The group will run with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 8. If less than 4 people sign up, you will be reimbursed for your purchase and notified when the next walking group is run.
How physical is the program?
Standing for 5-10 minutes at check-in and walking for 20-30 minutes at a leisurely pace along the paved paths of the sanctuary will be part of the program. We will pause for discussions at benches or picnic tables, however, sitting on the ground may also be part of the sessions.
How does walking support people with ADHD?
Research shows that walking can significantly improve:
- Emotional regulation
- Attention and focus
- Executive functioning
- Stress management
- Information processing.
- Sleep quality
- Nervous system regulation.
- Cognitive flexibility
Is this program open to wheelchair users?
Yes, the pathways are accessible, however, only portable washrooms are available on-site after the nature centre closes (after 4pm).
